Writing
In Kindergarten we work on self-portraits at the beginning of the year and often revisit our reflections and portraits later in the year. In the recent days we have connected our informational writing to our community work. Instead of drawing a new self-portrait this year, the children are drawing a portrait of a friend and writing a book about them.
Front Covers- a portrait of my friend!
The children started with a practice sketch. Notice how Brennan's work developed from his practice drawing of Myra to his final front cover? Her bright blue eyes and smile look Myra-ish!
On Monday we connected in small groups on zoom to ask and answer questions for our All About My Friend books. This work included important speaking and listening skills, asking and answering of questions, and using pictures and words to record information.
