A powerful first day of learning together while being apart.
Setting Up
Today was a day for the children to set up their workshops at home. They picked up materials at school, decided on a time for their workshops, and set up a space for materials.
Many children had already started this process.
Sebby labeled his basket for school. Megan noticed the possible raccoon drawing!
Caleb built words at home and connected a cvc word to his snack!

Richard and Rhett work together to set up a literacy space at home. His tools are up!

Sebby and Bryan jumped right into their new books!
Bryan and Richard are using their classroom literacy tools at home.
Richard is pointing to and talking about each reading power.
Bryan has his letter sheet our while he reads a new book!

Science
We are observers. We are continuing our writing like a scientist unit at home. One way we can grow as a writer, is to practice the skill of observation. For science, go outside and observe. Look up, look down. Notice the detail. What do you see?
Ira is an observer. He saw moss on a tree and snow falling down.
Did you see the same? Did you see something different?

Myra drew a picture of a fire her family built. They used lots of sticks. Myra made sure to have detail in her background. Notice the sun and sky.
Have you had a fire with your family?
Richard observed and discovered today. He collected materials and built a detailed structure.
What have you been building? What materials did you use? What is the name of your structure?
If you build something, write labels and attach with tape. Take a picture of your work!

Community Check in
Have you lost a tooth since we have been away from school? Colbie and Savannah have!
Savannah, you could use your sight words and sound power to write a kind note to the tooth fairy.
Brennan and his siblings work hard at home. Look how focused they are!

Bryan and Richard share with us how to be creative on paper and with our bodies!

Hi Kindergarteners!
ReplyDeleteLook at all of this powerful work! I notice details and labels in our drawings, pointer fingers out and ready to read, and even some outdoor adventure. I loved seeing your smiles today!
Love,
Megan
